Manager

Juliet Cassells has returned as Managing Director of DFSR and the European Hotel Academy after a three year sabbatical in which she headed the development of an international high school and studied for a Masters degree in educational leadership. Prior to this Juliet had led DFSR for 8 years and founded the Academy in 2006, having previously been an trainer in the hotel and tourism industry. Juliet looks back on 20 years of management experience in the education and travel sectors.

Course development & Project management

After his apprenticeship as a hotel professional, Christopher studied hospitality management, including a year abroad in Australia. He worked for hotels in England, France, Belgium and Austria and gained work experience in the hotel development industry as a project manager.  Working at a professional school and for an education center for hotel management led him to the EHA. He is responsible for the planning and development of new courses and is involved in marketing activities. Christopher was born in France and lived several years in the United States. He speaks French, English and German.

Trainee
Judith did a three-year apprenticeship as a hotel professional in Bad Füssing in the Bavarian Forest. After finishing in January 2007 she decided to go abroad and worked in Newbury near London for one year, also in the hotel business. She was able to perfect her English skills there as well as gain experience at a 4-star hotel. In January 2008 Judith went back to Germany and found a new challenge at a small 3-star hotel in the Bavarian Forest. She worked there as a receptionist until September 2009 when she decided to go back to college to start training as a manager of home economics specialising in hotel and tourism. As part of this training, she is doing an 6 months traineeship at the Academy. Her duties include general administration, maintenance work, and organising job placements for our students.
billchapmann.jpg Bill Chapman
Restaurant Service Instructor
Bill is from England. He moved to Germany in 1962. After his vocational training in Business Administration, he went to France where he worked as a waiter in a Michelin-star restaurant and also as an English and PE teacher at a boarding school. Later, Bill worked in several executive positions in the international pharmaceutical industry and lived in Pennsylvania with his family for many years. He retired from his career in the pharmaceutical industry in 2005. Since October 2006 he has been a member of the EHA faculty.
robertlyons.jpg Robert Lyons
Cultural Immersion Teacher
Robert was born and raised in Scotland and studied at Glasgow Polytechnic. He studied educational science and spent several years working as a teacher and youth counsellor in the UK. Robert has been living in Germany since 1992 and works as a freelance English teacher for private households and also for larger companies like SAP and Freudenberg. He joined the EHA faculty in March 2006 and he also runs his own small television production company.  
sarahsprater.jpg Sarah Sprater
Cultural Immersion Teacher
Sarah is from England. She spent quite a few years living in the USA and in Scotland and has been living near Heppenheim, Germany since 1986. During her first years in Germany she worked as an English teacher for a well-known language institute in Frankfurt. In 1997 she started her own language school with a focus on business English and preparation for A levels. She runs seminars on language training for primary school teachers and teaches in primary schools as well. Sarah joined the EHA faculty a few years ago. She is married, has two children and a dog.
